Ah, that would help a lot. Basically, what I was going to do was dl
all updates to my laptop and use that as the install server. However,
it means I might miss a few updates, because I'm not sure what my
connectivity will be once I leave for LinuxWorld.

I don't see that as too much of an issue. I think it would help a lot.
