I've seen 6.06 exhibit this behaviour on other hardware. In that case it was
sleep that was causing the problems and it took a lot of trying different
settings before the problem was vanquished-- still it clearly seemed to be a
bug and not a configuration issue.
Bug reports on 6.06 are are not *silly* since Dapper is LTS-- Long Term
Support.
