Hi John,
I am pleased to here that CFSG can bring something to the UbuCon.
I would like to know if a computer, projector, and mic would be available,
or would we have to provide some of those items. Also what time slot
would be allotted to us. I assure you we can go from 45Min - 2 hours if
you let us.
One of our programs at CFSG is called PC Garage. In this course
youths fix old computers and configure it to run Free Software.
After they install a GNU/Linux operating system they are thought
how to install and use, application's that would make their system
productive.
This could be applied to the installfest part of UbuCon. Where their is
the groups of helpers. The installer, tweaker, and educator. The
installer is the first person to connect the computer, and install Ubuntu.
The tweaker configures/tweaks, X, DRI, OpenGl, hdparm, sound, and
i686 kernel updates. Then the educator could teache groups of 5 - 10 how
to install flash, A/V codec, jave, and blackbox. and other educators
like CFSG could teach GIMP, Inkscape, Open Office, Blender 3D, and
Audacity
Hope to here what you think.
Some pics of some of our last PC Garage.
