Subject: Desktop SmackDown!
Desktop SmackDown ( old name desktop shoot-out )

Q: What is it?
A: A fun way to show the differences between desktop choices or Ubuntu,
   Kbuntu, and Xbuntu for example

Q: So what is the flow?
A: Each presenter is given a set amount of time, usually 10 minutes to
present there desktop. After which the audience is encouraged to ask
questions, each presenter is then given time to answer how there
   desktop would work etc.

Q: What does a presenter do?
A: A presenter for a desktop is given a set amount of time to show why
they like there desktop choice. Live demos of the desktop are
preferable, but Open Office slides are also ok.

Q: Which desktops?
A: We need at least one person for each of the core Ubuntu choices which
are Gnome, KDE and XFCE4. Other desktops are welcome, and more then
one person can support a desktop ( for the Q&A portion most likely )

Q: How do I sign up for a desktop?
A: Post to the ubucon list with which desktop you want to show.

Q: Why call it a smackdown when no one is going to get hurt?
A: Well being we are in NYC, it needed some spin. Desktop roundup or
shout-out does not sound "fun". Where as smackdown does! When we
do an event like this at our LUG people get into it since it's a
fun way to learn about how each different desktop will handle
a given issue. It also helps new users learn which ones are better
   then other at certain tasks.
