Hi there,
As we're coming down the stretch, it looks like there will be well
over 100 people in attendance, which will be much more than in
Mountain View last August.
SPEAKERS:
I'm happy to tell you that Jay Sulzberger, Bradley Kuhn (Software
Freedom Law Center, formerly of FSF) and Benjamin "Mako" Hill have all
agreed to speak. Don't worry guys, the check's in the mail ;)
You can see the schedule beginning to round out here:
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuCon
Much of that will shift around once we actually begin the proceedings,
so don't bank on anything that's there.
LOGISTICS:
Take a look at the latest venue info on the wiki:
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/TheUbucon - the brief recap is that we will
arrive at the Google office at 16th St. and 9th Ave., and the doors
open at 8:30.
Also, we can film any sessions we want, but we will have to provide
the gear. This has to do with Google's copyright policy - basically,
if one of us films it, Google will not claim copyright of the content.
If anyone would like to volunteer for this, send a note to the list.
One person in the last IRC session volunteered.
EVANGELISM:
I've created a list of area LUG's, non-profits and media that we should solicit:
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuconEvangelism
Please consider contacting one of them, if no one has already. If you
do contact someone with that organization, please indicate that on the
wiki. And feel free to add any organizations that you feel I've
missed.
PROPAGANDA:
Nathan has graciously donated his time, even though he won't be able
to make it, and created a flyer:
http://eckenrodehouse.net/kubuntu/flyer1-1.pdf
Feel free to forward that to folks, or if you're inclined, print it
out and distribute to interested parties.
FINAL IRC SESSION:
If you haven't been able to attend the previous 2 IRC sessions, this
Friday will be your last chance. The previous 2 have been at 6pm. If
you can't make that, please suggest another time. The details: #ubucon
on irc.freenode.net
And that's all for now - this is shaping up to be a really fun time
for everyone.
