Hi all,
Thanks to all of you for making the UbuCon a success. I didn't know what
to expect, but it surpassed anything I had envisioned. It was exactly
the type of community-based, easy-going affair I had hoped for. It
didn't have the elitist flair of a lot of conferences, but there was
also real information on display. To me, it stayed true to Ubuntu's
"Linux for Human Beings" theme. It was a conference for human beings.
My head is already swimming with ideas for next year. As well as the
beginning of a California Ubuntu group. I hope Mark N and a few others
who had the idea for the California group can pipe in and give their
thoughts. We could go our own way, or we could organize under the banner
of one of the area user groups. I'd really like to hear your thoughts on
the subject.
And a couple of requests:
1. Speakers. I need a list of everyone that spoke. So far, I have...
- moi
- Anna and Alex (Python BoF)
- Jorge Castro
- Corey Burger
- Jordan Mantha
- Akkana Peck
- Ryan Anderson
- Adam Israel
- Paul Reiber
- Krishna Sankar
- Christian Huebner
- Jane Silber
- Canonical dude whose name I forget (spoke on Saturday, right before
Jorge)
2. Please send me your notes of the event. If you presented with slides,
please point me to them. A couple of you have done this. Thanks Andrey,
for the photos. There's also some notes on Ubuntu.com. Awesome.
If you didn't present, please send me your thoughts anyway. I'm trying
to post a summary today.
3. And finally, where should the next UbuCon be? Should it be next year?
I was wondering about New York in February, since that's the date of
LinuxWorld east, or whatever they're calling it these days.
Thanks, and please send your comments!
